A3 CABINETS

All cabinet enclosures used in A3 products are cut and assembled in-house at the A3 Woodshop.

Our custom woodshop handcrafts the X-Factor and M-Series cabinets from 13-Ply Baltic Birch to provide the stable platform needed to produce higher sound pressure levels.

Strategically placed internal bracing couples the sound baffle to the rear wall to virtually eliminate unwanted baffle vibration and distortion.

Dual panel construction is used at the pole mount attachment points to provide 26-Ply strength and security.

Handholds are cut into the cabinets and individually air sealed for long term durability that will never rust or break.

Designed for less demanding applications, our Reference Series cabinets are constructed from rugged yet cost effective industrial grade 5/8" PBI.

Steel bar handles and hard plastic corner guards are standard on Reference models.

A3 HORN SHELLS

The horn flanges used in X-Factor and M-series models are custom molded in-house at A3's Horn Works™ facility using non-resonate high modulus polymer. This polymer starts in two parts and is hand mixed similar to epoxy type materials. The key benefit to the use of modulus polymer is its inherent resistance to ring distortion or surface cracking.

Each A3 model is designed for a specific sound application.  Each application requires a unique dispersion pattern from the horn flange.

The X Horn disperses at 60° horizontal by 40° vertical in standard configuration. Due to our symmetrical outer flange design, the horn can be rotated 90° to adjust the inner flange dispersion pattern to 40° horizontal by 60° vertical. The ability to adjust the dispersion pattern allows for optimum sound coverage configuration in virtually any room or venue.

The M Horn has a fixed dispersion pattern of 90° horizontal by 40° vertical for use in rooms that are wide but have low ceiling height. This wider dispersion pattern is also more desirable in, left of stage - right of stage, speaker placement when the audience is close to the stage front.

The XM Horn is our most unique design to date. Designed to be used in dedicated floor monitor applications, the horn flange disperses sound in the pattern of a trapezoid with wide horizontal dispersion at the top of the flange and narrow horizontal dispersion at the bottom. This pattern has two benefits over traditional floor monitor horn designs;

1.) The narrow pattern at the bottom of the horn isolates the sound field to the vocalist standing directly in line with monitor and minimizes the sound to the other performers.

2.) The trapezoidal shape of the sound pattern permits the attainment of higher sound pressure levels than traditional designs and reduces the need for massive amounts of equalization to control feedback related problems.

A3 CROSSOVERS

All A3 crossovers are wired by hand using the finest American made hand-wound coils, polypropylene film capacitors, and oversized resistors. Each connection is  hand soldered for the ultimate in quality assurance.

Every crossover is put through rigorous bench testing in order to maintain consistency from speaker to speaker.

Internal connections from the input through to the drivers are made with high quality, multi-stranded, high fidelity type speaker cable for maximum signal transfer and improved sound quality.

A3 CABINET PROTECTION

The enclosures used in all X-Factor and M-Series models are coated with a material we fondly call Road Armor™. This material is made from the same polymers used to line truck beds. The resulting finish is scratch resistant, chip proof, waterproof and virtually indestructible under normal operating conditions. Road Armor seals the cabinet airtight and keeps the speaker looking like new even when subjected to the tortures of being on " the road " . Our Reference Series enclosures are covered in heavy duty wear- resistant black carpet.

A3 GRILLES

All A3 models  come standard with 18 gauge steel grilles to protect and preserve the drivers.

A3 grilles are finished with a baked-on black powder coat to prevent peeling and rust over time.

A3 QUALITY

The design philosophy at A3audio is that each of our speakers must pass the most critical of all tests, the          "A3 CUSTOMER EAR" test. Regardless of the shape, size, price, specifications or cosmetics, the most important function of a sound reinforcement loudspeaker should be to sound good in the application it is used for. The drivers we use are chosen because they sound good, not because they have big magnets or claim to handle megawatts of power. Our horn flanges are designed to direct the sound where it is needed, not to visually impress you with massive size. We do not consider a speaker design to be complete when the test analyzer shows a good measurement, we consider the design complete when our customers field test the product and return to tell us our speaker is the best sounding product they have ever used for a given application. After all at A3audio we are very
